It’s August, and by now you’ve probably been inundated with wrought iron everything on Pinterest – a style that could best be described as enchanted antique garden, with a kick. Think waves, squiggles, and, in some cases: artistic, Picasso-esque faces.
This outdoor furniture is often bespoke (or at least made-to-order) and priced accordingly. They give off that cool French nonchalance I love, but I can only dream of these pieces, and my ‘backyard’ is actually a fire escape the size of a bath mat, so I need something compact. Then I found it: the whimsical bistro set of my city-girl pipedreams, peacock-inspired of all things, for $182.99 on Wayfair.
It’s got the DNA of classic English garden patio furniture but with more room to play, featuring surrealist swirls that make any sliver of small backyard space feel intentional. Even in the suburbs, it’d evoke Paris.

For $180, you’d expect to at least break a sweat with an Allen wrench. Not here – this turquoise trio arrives ready to charm straight out of the box. Brunch on the balcony this Sunday, anyone?
Technically, it’s illegal for me to put anything on my fire escape. Hypothetically, though, it would fit. And in that hypothetical? I’d buy it without hesitation. That’s my litmus test: if it works in my ‘yard,’ it’ll work in any small outdoor space – balcony, patio, porch, patch of lawn.
But it’s the turquoise that really seals it. A nod to the peacock that inspires its ornate design without diving totally off the deep end, and sneakily neutral (it can anchor a scene or blend quietly with greens). You don’t need much else, though an outdoor seat cushion in an on-trend red and white stripe would really nail the biggest summer trends of 2025.

I’m generally allergic to cheap outdoor furniture, but the non-cheap quality of this set clears the bar. It’s made of weather-resistant iron, has 4.5 stars over 46 reviews, and is heavy enough not to tip – yet light enough to move on a whim.
