South Bay Materials is THE place for rocks. There are bins of loose rocks of varying shapes and sizes located towards the front of the business. These proved to be exactly what I was looking for in order to set up a reptile terrarium with adequate enrichment. I was able to find a flatter stone that I will be using for a basking location, which I was not able to find on websites including Amazon or in-store at Home Depot or Osh or Ace. The rocks are “raw” if you will, or not coated, so are perfect for a wide variety of use to include arts and crafts (home and classroom) or even for aquariums. Employees were nice and helpful, included Nike the Bernese Mountain Dog. Highly recommend this location, and we will absolutely return when we decide to tackle some home landscaping projects. My only caution is that this is not the place to bring children for safety reasons (forklifts moving around, rock bins made out of wire some with sharp/protruding edges, etcetera). Other materials are also available. Hate to say it but…this place ROCKS.
Ordered Gold rock but it’s mostly gray. Couldn’t tell on site, thought it was dirty. Did they grab from the right bin? Sigh 🙁 Loading was fast.
Our existing California Gold that we laid several years ago is on the bottom of the pics. The stuff I purchased from South Bay materials called Gold Rock is on the top/the gray stuff.
South Bay Materials is the best! We’ve gone there about 4 times now, and every time e find exactly what we need. Sal delivered us our rock this morning and was super nice and careful! He called us beforehand to tell us when he was coming so we were ready. It was a super fast delivery, right where we wanted it in front of our house. We will always get our landscaping materials from this company!
We had 2 excellent deliveries. Our driveway is 900′ long & up hill, with no turn around. The truck must back all the way down & turn uphill. Sal, was our delivery driver for both June 24th & Aug 29. He did an excellent job putting the material right on the spot.

Everything went well from ordering to delivery. Sal, the truck driver, was great to work with – he was able to work with me on picking an appropriate spot to dump the crushed rock. He was able to place the delivery in a precise spot on a driveway on a side street. Sal exhibited sound customer service and was very knowledgeable. Thanks!
