Dustin and Big D pools built my pool and “finished” in September 2023. They were supposed to put the alarms in my home to have my pool inspected in July 2024 one year after the pool was done at the same time fix the auto fill that never worked. It is November 2025 and there are still no alarms and my pool hasn’t been inspected… plus auto fill isn’t working and my pool is constantly draining water. I have called and texted many many times too many to count and cannot get a response from anyone. I’m not sure if they are out of business but I can’t get anyone to respond.. I regret the day that I hired BIG D pools and even built a pool at this point. I made the final payment to Dustin in good faith that everything would get done.
Dustin has every excuse in the book to not perform work in a timely and suitable manner. He rarely picks up the phone and will text he will call you back (never does). You constantly have to contact him and then pray one of his workers shows up. After shotcrete applied, it took 7 months to complete my pool! His workers just disappeared!
Additionally, I have had warranty issues since my pool was constructed by him, well over a year now, without any resolution (light doesn’t work, filter nosel broken, etc.) . Loud and noticeable air bubbles in both the pool and spa. Spa jets not having appropriate pressure. Plaster application was not performed well but he never came out to comment on it until a year later. Finally, items are in the contract, that were paid for, still not taken care of.
His workers also destroyed my fence by digging and placing plumbing right next to the fence poles. Another $14k+ extra spend. I attempted to come to a resolution by identifying a chiller/heat pump to be installed for free instead, which he agreed upon. Of course, that was never installed.
He also parked a digger in our front lawn for 5 months which was well after excavation and uneeded for our project (free parking?)?.
Constant hassle of attempting to get work done and completed/fixed. I wish I had gone with a more established company. 2 stars for work through shotcrete…horrible experience thereafter.
I cannot say enough good things about Jacob and the team! I had a valve break after a terrible storm and they were out the next day to get me up and going!! As a new owner to our existing pool I needed a lot of help and advice and Jacob was so helpful and willing to share his knowledge and teach me about my system and share tips and tricks! We had so much air in our pump and it’s COMPLETELY GONE now!! Thank you Big D Pools and Jacob and Jerry for being so kind and helpful! I’m sure I’ll meet Matt one day but until then I just cannot say thank you enough to you all!!
Finally, a pool contractor that actually knows what they are talking about…thank you for being honest and direct about recommendations, materials, and what can and cannot be accomplished. The soil we have here ensures constant challenges with swimming pools, and a company that knows how to cope with that in the best way possible is invaluable. Thank you for being willing to do the small repairs as well, not just focusing on the big ticket renovations and then running away like most pool contractors in the area.
We had a wonderful experience with Big D Pools. We tried for weeks to find a pool company to replace our pool lights. Once we learned of and reached out to Big D, they came by within 24 hours to assess the situation, and three days later, it was resolved. The communication was excellent along the way. They even did some legwork to ensure we got the most economical solution for our situation. Highly recommend!
