As the organization notes, this is an important step at the beginning of a new agricultural season, as access to quality seeds directly affects food security and the ability of households to grow their own food.

“In total, FAO plans to purchase 4,500 sets to support 4,500 rural families. This will allow families to quickly start growing vegetables even in conditions of limited resources and complex logistics caused by the war,” FAO reports.

Each set will contain seed potatoes and seeds of 12 types of vegetables: cabbage, radish, eggplant, onion, beetroot, tomato, cucumber, zucchini, carrot, pepper, parsley, and sweet corn, with subsequent delivery to the Dnipropetrovsk and Mykolaiv regions.

Proposals can be submitted until January 16, 2026, and a pre-tender online meeting for interested participants will take place on January 8. All applications are accepted exclusively through the UNGM portal.

By supporting access to seeds, FAO contributes to the preservation of local food production and helps Ukrainian communities remain resilient even in crisis conditions.
