Burque Throwdown is a great place to learn and practice ceramic arts. The studio is well equiped, clean, and welcoming to all levels. The instructors are knowledgeable and approachable. My instructor is very attentive and always has insightful tips, and also allows students to take things at their own pace. The open studio hours are great for students who want extra practice. There are many glaze and clay options available to students, and projects are generally fired quickly. I have learned a ton about pottery and really enjoy spending time in the space, experimenting and learning from the artists there. I highly recommend trying out Burque Throwdown to anybody who is interested.

I have been attending a Saturday pottery class at Burque Throwdown for many months now. I love it! They provide all the tools, training, and supplies. They make it so easy to learn a new skill for a reasonable cost. The people I have met in the class are wonderful and friendly. There is something magical about starting with a glob of clay and ending with a beautiful piece of art. I highly recommend Burque Throwdown.

Took a beginner pottery class here with my boyfriend and honestly had mixed feelings.

The studio itself was nice and pottery was fun to try, but the instruction wasn’t very welcoming for first-timers. My boyfriend picked it up quickly, but I needed more guidance since it was my first time touching a wheel. Instead of helping, the instructor (Julio) made comments like “you’re just playing with the clay,” which came off dismissive rather than supportive.

Beginner classes should feel encouraging, especially when people are learning something totally new. A little patience and actual guidance would’ve made a big difference in the experience.

If you already know what you’re doing, you might enjoy it. But if you’re brand new and need hands-on help, just be aware the support may not be there.

My mom and I took a hand building class with Diane. We loved it so much we signed up for a second class. Diane is an amazing instructor and just really made our experience so much better. My mom is older and she was so patient and helpful and she went out of her way to make sure my mom got the most out of her experience. Would hands down recommend this class to beginners and experienced clay builders. You won’t be disappointed!

Burque Throwdown is the best! I signed up for Wednesday night classes with Dan and loved it so much I continued to sign up every time a six-week session ended. The teachers, studio, and community are really wonderful – highly recommend!
