Thanks to Jodie Herrera for curating this experience titled ‘Here’. Thanks to the factory for keeping it Sanitary. I didn’t smell any tortillas though. Ok. I digress. I’m still here.
The gallery is a beautiful space, a great venue for community events and conversations. I attended local artist Sheri Crider’s workshop to prepare elements for an upcoming art installation. The workshops gave rise to great conversations, and I had the opportunity to meet some wonderful people.
Huge fan of Sanitary Tortilla Factory and founder/owner Sheri Crider – they host a dozen studios for working artists, as well as a rotating artist-in-residency program, exhibition space, and lots of collaborative work with artists and gallery owners in the Downtown Albuquerque-area. Friendly, engaging, and always fascinating work to be encountered there.
The artist rental spaces are bright and spacious. The gallery in the back is small but also has great lighting. I look forward to attending more shows there.
This is a collection of art studios plus a gallery. It’s located in an up-and-coming neighborhood at 2nd and Lead. The mural on the outside wall is by an Argentinian artists commissioned to paint it.
