Getting a 2 star vegetable will help you cook more delicious meals and complete the ‘Restore the Gardening Club’ quest in Tales of The Shire.

Achieving this feat in most games with a farming sim-aspect would simply involve placing down some fertiliser, but Tales of The Shire has taken a different approach. One that involves a little bit of trial and error at times!

With this in mind, let’s take a look at how to get a 2 star vegetable in Tales of The Shire.

How to get a 2 star vegetable in Tales of The Shire

To get a 2 star vegetable in Tales of The Shire, you need to plant two different plants together in one gardening plot that have a positive Companion Planting rating. This is demonstrated by a golden face with hearts.

In my experience, you only find out whether two plants have a positive Companion Planting rating after you’ve planted them together for the first time. This means that there is a level of trial and error, with some plants having no rating and others having a negative one.

Thankfully, a plant’s Companion Planting rating is recorded in the Encyclopedia. You can also find it by inspecting seeds either in your inventory or at Farmer Cotton’s stall.

Each plant has three plants they have a positive Companion Planting rating for and one they have a negative rating for.

If you’re trying to get a 2 star vegetable for the ‘Restore the Gardening Club’ quest, then I recommend planting one Brown Tater seed and one Maze seed together. Ideally, you should do this during the Summer, because this ensures it only takes three days for the seeds to grow and for you to get your vegetables.

Out-of-season seeds still grow in Tales of The Shire – just at a slower rate.
