   After several years of remodeling, our yard was a complete mess and the irrigation system was not usable. I met with various landscaping groups, none of whom seemed to be able to grasp what I wanted to complement our home. Chris took the time to LISTEN and to understand the style that we were seeking. He assured me that we could create a great look without it being a yard of just rocks. He understood that we also wanted low to no-maintenance and that we wanted some color. VHS was able to get everything accomplished within a two week period for us, including a total clearing of what little grass we had, re-grading, new irrigation system, new design, new sod, new beds, and also dressed up a wonderful side area that we see from our home interior. Our Project Manager, Byron, met with the fellow installing our gutters to work on the best install for our layout. I worked with Becca on the final plans and we did make a few swaps – it was just so easy and they gave me great advice on the best Texas colorful natives to use for each bed. Also: Chris is very organized and uses a software that is very precise on the pricing, so there are no surprises.
   Thank you, Chris, and your VERY PROFESSIONAL and COURTEOUS team! Our neighbors are loving it, too!

   We had an excellent experience with VHS Landscaping. We initially started working with another landscaping company here in town, but after months of unresponsiveness, we knew we had to find someone else. VHS Landscaping didn’t let us down — they were prompt, professional, and incredibly responsive from day one. Chris and his team really listened to all of the inputs we had, and we appreciated that the design team helped us plan beautiful garden spaces in both our front and back yards. We were especially pleased that they helped us design a great space that would work in our smaller backyard. Communication was excellent throughout the project, and the quality of their work exceeded our expectations. Their crew showed up when they said they would, paid attention to every detail, and made sure everything was done right. And, when we had an unexpected issue with the rain cistern they installed, they came right back and ensured it was fixed and operational. We’re so glad we found VHS. Chris and his team have truly earned our trust and future business.

   We’ve had a great experience with Chris and the entire VHS team. We had landscaping, carpentry, and irrigation system work done. The design process was very thorough, and Chris walked us through multiple options considering pros and cons of each. After finalizing the design, they were very detailed about the cost. I especially appreciated the communication from Chris that kept us updated on when the various phases of the project would start. Each crew VHS sent (landscaping crew, irrigation crew, carpenters) were on time, friendly and professional. Bryon did a great job overseeing the projects. VHS will do our new plantings in the spring, and I won’t hesitate to use them for any future projects.

   VHS Outdoor Living is hands-down the best contractor we’ve ever worked with!

   I’ve known Chris for years but had never hired his company. I was always taught to keep business and friendships separate… BOY am I glad I went against that rule (Sorry Dad)

   From the very first meeting to the final walkthrough, we were absolutely blown away. VHS shows up on time, communicates clearly, listens to your goals, and follows through even after the project is complete. They don’t disappear after the final check, they actually come back for free well checks to make sure everything is healthy and thriving. That kind of character and consistency is rare.

   After my mom passed away in 2021, and in honor of my wife’s grandmother, we wanted to transform our yard with drought-tolerant, hardy plants that would attract butterflies and bees. Both women loved gardening and pollinators, so this project meant a lot to our family. The problem was that we did not inherit their green thumbs, our lot is also extremely difficult with steep elevations, limestone shelves, and poor soil.

   Chris and his team took our vision head-on. Their knowledge of materials, drainage, and Hill Country plants is unmatched. They designed a plan that worked with our land, our climate, and our lack of plant knowledge, and they kept us updated every step of the way. VHS didn’t just install landscaping, they brought our dream to life.

   Today our yard is full of color, butterflies, and bees. It feels like a living tribute to the people we loved.

   If you want a contractor who listens, finds the best solutions, does what they say, and truly cares about the outcome.

   Sean and Jose and the whole team were wonderful. From initial survey and design to finished project they sought to deliver what we envisioned and ensure a high quality end result. Our screened patio extension and associated irrigation and grading were top notch. Every “sub” worker they have secured (concrete, carpentry, roofing, gutters, irrigation, etc…) were the best in San Antonio. Responsible, friendly, courteous, along with high craftsmanship.
