MARQUETTE, Mich. (WLUC) – It’s the growing season, and U.P. temperatures are settling in. Depending on what plants gardeners want to grow, where you live can play a major role.

It is important to take plant hardiness zones into account. Co-owner of Chenier’s Greenhouse, Nick Chenier, says some perennial plants may struggle to grow in our usually colder environment.

The USDA has a map showing what hardiness zones the Upper Peninsula is classified in.
