3D Builders did an outstanding job on our deck and front porch awning. Mike is an experienced contractor and does quality work! Jason was very attentive to our project and scheduled each phase of our project as quickly as possible. Several times I was about to call him to see how things were moving along, and he texted me first. I have worked with several contractors over the years, and 3D Builders were the best I have worked with. They know what a punch list means to a customer, and they stick with the project until all of the items are completed. They expected payment as each phase of our construction was completed, but they completed each phase before they asked for payment. I was very pleased with my experience, and consider 3D builders to be new friends.
We hired 3D Benchmark to rebuilt two levels of a deck that was experiencing dry rot and settlement. 3D did an outstanding job, and their foreman, Mike, always kept us informed of progress. The subs they used knew their business and performed an accurate match of the stucco pattern, painting, railing, and other aspects. There were no shortcuts taken. Proper ventilation was installed for both the lower and upper decks and the waterproofing will last our lifetimes. One of the most interesting things was that the owner never asked for a payment. This has not been my experience with other contractors who usually want money as soon as they show up with a few items completed. The job took longer than expected, but it was worth waiting for. They are not the cheapest, but we wanted the quality.
Jason and his crew at 3D benchmark builders built out our restaurant/bar called Tomato Alley Free House in downtown Sacramento. It started out as an old, empty shell of an ugly building and has been quickly transformed into a charming little neighborhood watering hole largely in part to the experts at 3D benchmark builders. They did everything from jackhammering up the old cement flooring and installing new plumbing, to building a custom bar that my customers seem to like sitting at. Jason is easy to talk to and will tell you what works and what won’t point blank. Sometimes it’s good to listen to the pros rather than thinkin we know everything, you know what I mean? Mike and David, part of the crew, were very skilled and efficient and always punctual. They actually seemed like it was more than just another job to them, like they were taking pride in building something the right way. All in all, it was a great experience and hopefully if I ever open another spot(fingers crossed!), they won’t be too booked up to help me! Check out our photos online or better yet, pop in and have a drink to check out the superior work performed by 3D benchmark builders. Included are some before and after pics. Cheers!
I will never recommend this contractor to anyone. They and their sub contractors are incredibly sloppy and they don’t own up to their mistakes. Also, they tried on several occasions to say the project was complete when it wasn’t.
We hired Jason Robnett’s company last year to rebuild our garage and fence after it was destroyed in a storm. Initial communications were great. They were clean cut and encouraging about getting the garage we wanted. However, once they began building, all the professionalism and communication halted. The subcontractor that was sent to demo the garage dug up our landscaped yard with a backhoe and accidentally pulled up our drainage system (I attached a photo of the trench). When we told Jason what happened, he said the demo team denied it. So we sent pictures of the broken drain pipes. They responded by saying the pipes had roots growing threw them and that they didn’t work to begin with. I can assure you they worked well enough to keep our yard from flooding. So the demo team installed a new drainage system and flung clods of dirt everywhere. A couple days after they finished, my husband and I cleaned up after them and tested it. We found that it didn’t work. We told Jason and he refuses to fix it. So now my husband has to dig up and lower part of it so the water drains to the street instead of puddling in the middle of the yard. And after this last rain storm, it is apparent that the new drain isn’t working.
There was no communication about the comings and goings of subcontractors and what part of the garage was being worked on next. So when Judy, the budget person, said everything was done, we were shocked. Several items on the scope of work were not addressed and parts of the garage were left unfinished. For example, they didn’t finish the fences and didn’t yet build the new gate, they forgot to apply the last coat of stucco, there were sharp nails protruding from the foundation all around the perimeter of the garage, they promised a layer of gravel and eventually refused to lay it, they forgot to install down spouts, and they left the garage trim a mess with stucco. (I attached photos of the state the garage and fences were in when 3D Benchmark deemed the project complete.) And when we asked to do a final walk through to show Jason the deficiencies, he said they didn’t do that. He also tried to justify why these things weren’t done and why his company shouldn’t have to complete them. So we sent him pictures and references to the scope of work.
By this point, all trust had been lost, so I put together a “to do” list of all the items they still had to do before the project was complete. This is not something the customer should have to do. They sent Mike out to finish the items on the list. He finished everything and I will say he was very pleasant. Thank you Mike. We paid them the rest of their money and we are glad to be done with them.
On a positive note, they gave us a baby shower gift.
I am very happy with the work that 3D Builders did on our dock, ramp and seawall. They kept at it until I was pleased with the final results!
