Second project for the Church with the materials sourced from Economy Lumber / Hayward Lumber and we could not be more pleased. We are updating the deck for the Sunday School from pressure treated lumber deck to Trex. Staff as always was excellent. When we told the manager, Brian K., that this is a free/volunteer job for a Church, he extended us a discount and delivered the materials to the jobsite for free. This is the place to go to rather than the big box stores when you want quality materials, good prices and excellent service. We initially were planning to use a color that is stocked but at the last minute we changed to a non stock color because it featured a deeper groove pattern so it is less slippery for the kids. In spite of our choice being a non stock material, they still managed to get it to us the very next day. See the before and after picture. The only dilemma is: why did we wait this long to upgrade? Highly recommended locally owned lumber yard. 5++ out of 5 stars !!!
First time experience, other than the #ticket dispenser being empty, it was smooth and pleasant and they loaded for me.
Great place has variety of stock but no customers service. I punched several items and grabbed a pencil at the counter and when I looked a the receipt it was $20. I mention that him , his response was ,It was probably in the wrong place ,I checked and the most expensive one was $10 , so I let him know and he was like I don,t know, so I don’t think I will go back ,unless I really have to.
Wood is in better shape than Home Depot or Lowe’s but it is wet (stored outside). They deliver which is nice for a fee. I bought ground contact lumber from them and from Home Depot. Home Depot is dry and doesn’t weigh as much (not as wet) but costs more. It is possible that economy lumber will warp and twist if left to dry before use. Time will tell i guess
If you know what you need you can submit a quote online and they get back to you fairly quickly. I wasn’t sure which wood I wanted so Eddie quoted both cedar and redwood. They load your vehicle as you drive to the various spots on the lot. Quality of wood was better than Home Depot or Lowe’s in my opinion. So if you know what you need I’d use them. They are Hayward Lumber now and they are cheaper in wood prices than Home Depot
