   A friend recommended James with Deep Rooted Designs to me while I was interviewing Landscape companies for my backyard remodel. I have owned my house in North Park for 20 years, and the backyard has needed a ‘make-over’ since day 1. After working with contractors over the years for remodeling other areas of my home, I knew I wanted to work with a contractor who could do the whole project start to finish ( design & installation). After meeting with several contractors I selected Deep Rooted Designs based on my meeting with James. He listened, made suggestions, explained how he worked and what the progression of the project would be and then he did not apply and pressure. I did some further research on his company and decided to move forward. The first step was working with the designer, Morganne, who was terrific. She came to the house several times and translated our ideas to paper. James then came up with a to-scale plan for the yard. After pricing things out, the Pavers I had originally selected were out of my budget. James came up with an a less expensive alternative that I think looks even better than what I had originally envisioned. Luis was my project manager during the remodel. Luis was fantastic! His crew showed up every day on time and worked amazingly hard. They were curious and respectful of my property and I felt absolutely comfortable with the work they were doing. Luis kept me informed at each step of the process. As in all major projects surprises come up and you have to make adjustments to the original plan. This happened at one point during the project and Luis was great at making suggestions that worked out perfectly. The entire project took about 4 weeks and the result is I have an outdoor living space that is as lovely as any room in the house. I Highly recommend Deep Rooted Designs to anyone ready to transform your outdoor space. I’ve included a before/after photo below, but honestly they photos don’t do it justice !

   We just recently renovated our backyard with James and we had an amazing experience. James exceeded our expectations on every detail. He was always very professional and respectful. We were also very impressed with his team. All his workers were very polite and communicative. I would highly recommend working with James/Deep Rooted Designs. Some of the best money we’ve ever spent!

   What I liked most about working with the Deep Rooted Design crew was their desire to make sure we were satisfied with the end result. As with any project, you have things that come up that change and evolve as the project is underway. The key is making sure you’re on the same page, communicating as much as possible along the way so you end up with what you had envisioned.
   In the beginning the design was very well executed by Megan. Her knowledge of plants and design, as well as, her ability to take my ideas and skillfully render them into a beautiful blueprint made this process very enjoyable. It’s also important to me that as hard as these guys work on demolition, laying a flagstone patio and pathway, spreading crushed rock etc. they seem to be treated well by management. I know this comes from good leadership, and James gives the impression that he cares. His project coordinator, Luis, is also someone who is trustworthy, and dependable. If I ever had a concern or question, he always responded in a timely manner, and I felt like I could count on him to make sure things got done.
   Overall, it was a pleasant experience working with the whole crew.

   I first found Deep Rooted Designs on instagram. I was looking for a company that could design my project and also do the work. I called around to a few companies looking for someone. James was referred to me by another company. He came out to my home and had some great ideas for me. Unfortunately my home is too far north in San Diego for him to help me. The good news is he took the time to refer me someone he knows and has worked with. I would highly recommend James if you have a landscape project. I found him to be very honest and upfront.

   John, Andrew and Luis at Deep Rooted Designs were an absolute dream to work with. I wanted to re-do the front of my house which included building a patio and eco-friendly landscaping. Their process is fantastic. John, landscape architect and owner, met with me to discuss my plans and he thoroughly covered their services. Andrew, landscape architect, developed a beautiful design based on my specs and patiently worked with me until I was satisfied. He provided great insights as to what would work best for my home. Then came the installation. Luis, project manager, was just as outstanding. He provided updates on timelines, gracefully answered any questions I had, and seamlessly supervised and coordinated all activities. The subcontractors John employs are just as professional as his team. They are competent in their respective expertise and were very respectful of my home. The final result was a QUALITY and BEAUTIFUL design. The design was even better than the 3-D pictures they provided at the start of the project. John and his team are the consummate professionals and always have the client’s best interests in mind. Finally, it is incredibly rare to find a team that delivers on time and on budget. Deep Rooted Designs is a group of young professional men who do things right the first time. I would highly recommend them for any landscaping/ outdoor project. I am the envy of all my neighbors. Thank you John, Andrew, Luis, and Romeo’s team for a great experience!
