I’ve been buying my favorite plants from Flora Grubb since she operated from a vacant lot in The Mission District as a young entrepreneur years ago. She consistently has a selection of unique items that most other shops don’t offer. I have also compared prices with the usual big box chain nurseries and was surprised that her prices are often no higher, and frequently a bit lower, but for significantly better quality. But really, I go to Flora because I love the atmosphere she’s created and the knowledgeable and helpful staff.
I just love this place to spend time and buy plants. They have experts if you need help finding the perfect plant for your garden. My last purchase was this wonderful dwarf tree fern, Blechnum gibbum and it is doing great in the garden.
Easily my favorite nursery in San Francisco. Not only does Flora carry unusual plants for coastal CA that you can’t easily find elsewhere (and often in quantity!) but visiting is a total joy. The post-industrial jungle succession vibe is endlessly inspiring.

This is a destination garden center! You’ll find fun plants including palms and houseplants not to mention orchids and cactus all ready for adoption! Containers and seating are here for inspiration and there’s no better place for ideas to form!
