My rating is on hold for now. Currently determining % fines by weight or volume.
When spreading heavy (weight) fines the compaction changes vs volume. I await a determination by AZ Weights and Measures as to any recommendations and if recommendations are followed by J & J.
Photos attached so you can see what we experienced… this is 1/2″ pink coral and it is hard to find.
In all fairness the staff is VERY PROFESSIONAL and they can not control the mines and crushing facilities.
If you want screened and washed material they have it in gold and ONLY in gold.
For the average consumer, I feel by weight vs volume should be specified. Reason is example: 1 ton of feathers spreads further than 1 ton of lead. This product is neither of course but 1 ton of fines is like 1 ton of lead when we’re trying for coverage less lead (fines) and more rock (feathers) is expected.
Talk to the employees wherever you go and dig into what’s in the bulk bins to see what you’re actually getting before you get a pile of mostly (my opinion … see what’s in my hand) fines.
Love their showcase of stones at their yard, very straight forward. We are doing it ourselves, not professionals, asked about a million questions both over the phone and in person, and made multiple trips, they answered each and every one of the questions.
J & J Landscaping did a fantastic job at a very reasonable price. They were great at communicating expectations snd very reliable. I would HIGHLY recommend this business to others.
We ordered the Apache Red gravel and the company delivered on-time, placed the gravel in the area we requested and confirmed the same morning prior to arriving. The driver was professional and courteous. I will definitely use their services again.
Overall, great experience with owner. Slightly higher prices for Licensed Contractor on materials $49.00 for concrete sand, Ewing $38.00 for contractors price. Our company supports small local business, however small businesses shouldn’t charge more then larger companies??
