Review for J&D United Landscaping and Turf
    4 star review:
Freddy did a good job for us and I would recommend him. There are some gotcha’s I had with him, but overall I am quite happy with his work. He was recommended to us by a neighbor who he had performed work for. We had him install a putting green and landscape our back yard. Many plusses, and a few things to watch for:
Make sure you are there for the work so you can verify details of the quote are being followed. I was not for some of the work and it did create problems.
    a. We had a sidewalk poured. I had asked about the water from the roof Canales and was told it would not damage the sidewalk. That has not been the case. When I contacted him about it later he said that the only way to prevent it was to install gutters. I believe I can use splash guards, but frustrated a bit that I wasn’t told about potential damage when I asked.
    b. Drainage was an issue. In the original quote, drainage was to be directed to the NW corner of the back yard. When it was installed, there was no drainage under the putting green. I saw water pooling after a rain. I contacted Freddy and he sent his guys back out and installed PVC at the low spot prior to the putting green to the outside wall. I’m quite satisfied with this.
    c. On the other side of the yard I had asked about rock mixing from the Canale drains and was told it would not. It did. I contacted Freddy about this and he installed a divider between the different types of rock. I’m quite satisfied with this.
    d. On the sidewalk design Freddy had recommended a pad for the trash cans. The design had them in a location such that the gate would open. I did happen to see the forms the day they were going to pour and they were located in a spot that would prevent the gate from opening with the trash cans in place. They did move it prior to the pour, so no problem in the end.
    e. There was some confusion about the type of rock used in one area. Freddy did change it out.
    f. The last surprise to me was the weed barrier. It was laid and rock put on top of it, but no stakes were used to secure the weed barrier. Edges tend to turn up.
Freddy was not cheapest of my quotes, but not the most expensive either. I had one quote for about half of what he quoted me, but I didn’t have a good feeling about the contractor. I also had a quote that was about 35% more than Freddy. Again, bottom line, I highly recommend Freddy, but stay involved with the entire process to make sure it is done properly.
