We were in town visiting and this park is everything I had hoped for, close to the parking lot yet still gave me the hike/trail run vibe I was looking for. Finding the entrance was difficult which is why I didn’t give it a 5 star review

Bumpy road to parking lot. Lots of parking space. Very nice place for a walk especially in the evening. Throughout whole trail the golden mountain is in a view. The trail goes right next to river on elevation. Noticed couple of coyotes across the river. Encountered rabbit right next to main trail which wasn’t scared to run away at all.

Beautiful and tranquil, plenty of area to walk along, and you can go down to the water as well if you would like. Current was fast when I was there, but the area was so peaceful, I enjoyed everything.

We visited on Saturday morning, and it was pretty empty. Around noon more folks started to set up picnics around the beach, but there was still plenty of space for everyone. As of September 2021 the water is pretty low, but not as low as farther south in Albuquerque. Overall this is a wonderful, clean, quiet spot.

The directions aren’t that great, so you may just want to use Google Maps to navigate to the Vista park, then turn right onto the dirt road immediately past the park. Beautiful views, lots of bird watching, but be careful as there are tons of coyotes in the area. Make sure you wear junk shoes or your good boots as the shoreline gets nice and mucky.
