Geremia built our pool in 2021. Just before warranty expired in 2024 we discovered a leak when a rust spot and small void developed on the plaster below water level on our Cabo step in the shallow end. After a month of repeated calls, we eventually got a service manager out to verify the leak; he sent out a tech to make a plaster patch repair a week later as a warranty repair. The patch was ugly on the Bella Blue plaster, but we were more concerned with the leak repair and rust spot. Here less than a year later, the rust spot has returned at the warranty repair location. After repeated calls to Geremia regarding the covered repair failure and promises of getting a return call from the service manager or owner “who are the only ones who can approve plaster repairs”… the company has ghosted me and won’t return my calls. I kept records of my call dates and messages, as well as pictures of the original failure and repair. Their C/S rep confirmed the only thing they had in file was that the warranty repair took multiple visits. The tech and supervisor involved both left the company. I do not recommend this company to build, repair or service your pool. They don’t seem to care.
I went into contract in 2023 with Geremia. At the time the owner Gus had recently acquired Geremia after owning Southbay Guinite. The transition was a epic task as to be expected merging 2 companies, but Gus gave me his personal number and answered whenever I did call. We did have a few hurdles but I am extremely happy with the finished product. The only reason I didn’t give 5 stars is the current scheduler. I scheduled a service after given 2 dates to choose. I chose the date, I open my email to see that the date changed without warning. I called the scheduler and asked, why would you reach out and ask me if the date change was OK or even let me know, her response was I forgot. Mind you the new schedule was a date that I originally told her did not work fir me. The reason I’m posting this is I called the scheduler in December to get a date, her response is I’ll call you by Jan 3, as we will be out of the office. I didn’t get the call, on January 7, I called…again she forgot, maybe scheduling is not for you. I dint want you to lose your job, but maybe your skills can be better used elsewhere within the company.
Gus is the name of the owner of this company and he literally told me to sue him because that’s his customer service
He didn’t have authorization to work on my pool. He didn’t have a contract. He sent out an inexperienced tech who didn’t communicate and then broke damage the pool system causing tens of thousands of dollars and damage and then after his company representative committed to paying for it because they are licensed and insured company after all he then refused so.
This is literally the worst you could ever possibly imagine hiring for this job run. Look at the other reviews. This is a fraudulent business affair.
After he realized that he had done all the damage he said all repair it just as long as you signed this form after I signed the form he took my money and said now I’m not gonna repair it and hung up
Do not use this company
Expensive and payment is due before work is completed – and only by check or cash
My spa never worked and they don’t honor the contract to have a functional product and charge for a “ service “ even though initial product never worked and they
Also slow and rarely come at assigned time
Still picking up pieces of plaster around the yard
ADDENDUM (05-21-2024): Following my posting of the review found below, staff at Geremia have worked diligently to regain my trust by mitigating the problems I had been experiencing and dealing with me professionally and fairly. I am very pleased by this — not “just” because I am once again receiving service commensurate to what I pay, but also because I dislike writing “bad” reviews. Kudos to Marc, Jake, and others for their follow-up. If this continues (which I suspect it will 🙂 ), then I will upgrade my review by summertime to a full five stars. –C.G.
ORIGINAL MESSAGE
For the better part of 18 years I had been a very pleased Geremia customer. My pool’s construction (in 2005) was close to flawless, and, since the early 20-teens (when I began contracting through their service and maintenance department), I had been generally well-supported (albeit with some not-to-be-unexpected “hiccups” during the first couple of COVID-19 pandemic years that we navigated through on a then-collegial basis).
During the past 18 months, however, the quality of their service has dropped phenomenally, e.g., MANY missed service visits; no replies to any of my voicemail or e-mail messages during the past 4 months; and multiple quotes for needed work that involve 300-500-percent markup on the price of parts (which to my mind is unethical — i.e., I believe in paying well for labor by an expert repair person, but I believe it is obscene for a company that pays $500-1000 for selected parts to charge the customer $2,000-3,000 … NOT including labor … for those same parts).
Lastly, I am trying to get them to replace a Frog system insert that one of their repair persons removed in 2022 (without my permission) during the fix of an unrelated leak (with no reply yet to my three most recent voicemail messages about this problem).
I’m preparing to leave Geremia and switch to a highly-rated alternative provider. I hope Geremia’s new owners (yes; the company was sold recently — probably a large contributor to all of these problems) addresses my complaints in a positive and constructive manner. If they do, then I will gladly write a follow-up post summarizing — accurately and fairly — the outcome. Whatever the ultimate outcome may be in this regard, however, I’m afraid I cannot in good conscience take any more chances at disappointment (and a perpetually green pool 😕) by remaining their customer.
I close by attaching a photo of my pool’s current condition following this week’s most recently-missed (every-Friday) visit. Good luck other Geremia customers! —Chris Gresens
