Been with this company for about 6 months. They did a great job, but have ALWAYS tried to get me to pay more. One week I got a quote to replace all of the guts in my filter for $878.00. I went to Amazon and bought the parts for $200, then did it myself. Then, a few weeks later, I received another quote for the entire filter for $ 1,700.00. The reason? The filter housing was sun-damaged (Faded). Then, out of nowhere, I receive a $ 3,500 quote to replace the lights in my pool, which I did not request. Of course, I did not approve any of these, and there were many more bogus quotes that I also never approved that I won’t bore you with.
All was fine until it started raining last month, and then the pool was constantly dirty and dark yellow with algae. They claimed it leaked. So another $800 down the drain and no leak. They say the pump wasn’t running at the correct speed, and the technician who works on the pool weekly can’t program it. So, another $150 to have a technician come out and program it. Still yellow and gross every day. I call and speak to Devin, and he (basically) tells me that he is tired of wasting his time and the company’s time, even though they deduct their money from my account on the first of every month without fail.
Well, I have finally had enough. I called Blue Science Pools, and they sent an excellent and professional technician named Curtis out the next morning (Friday), who programmed the pump, added some chemicals, and brushed it. Miraculously, the pool is clear and clean today. I emailed Magnolia or Patriot about cancelling, and as a final terrible insult and bad business move, they offer no refunds. They said they will complete the month. Like I want them back. Enjoy your free money that you did not earn. I do not want you back on my property.
*********Update / Edit*******
After writing this review I was called on July 24, 2025 by a a woman who claimed to be someone who worked at magnolia pools/patriot pools. She was a complete waste of my time. I gave her all the info, I described in great detail all of the ridiculous amount of conversations I’ve had with Devin and the rest of the people who work at the office . She was nice but she swore to me that she was gonna make it right. She promised that she would at least get my month that I prepaid for refunded, which was an absolute lie because it is now August 1 and they haven’t done a thing. So not only is this company bad at the actual pool service. They are terrible people, and they lie to their customers.
Do yourself a favor fire these people or don’t hire them. Absolutely ridiculous. By the way, my new pool company is cheaper and they do 1000% better job and the pool has been perfectly blue ever since they took over without a phone call. Without me having to complain. Without constantly getting asked to pay outrageous prices like a $75 O ring
Magnolia/patriot pools are an absolute joke.
See updated photo taken today perfectly blue as it should be.
I’ve been with Patriot Pool & Spa for over two years and, until recently, the service was acceptable. Unfortunately, during a routine filter cleaning, their technician cross-threaded the top of my filter housing. This caused the housing to seize and become impossible to remove.
A repair specialist later confirmed the issue and stated the only solution was to replace the entire filter housing. Patriot quoted over $1,000 for the part and $250 for installation. After researching, I found the exact same OEM part online for around $500.
I contacted Patriot to see if they would take responsibility for the damage or at least meet me halfway, given that the issue was caused during their service. The only concession offered was a 10% discount off their already inflated pricing, which I found disappointing and unreasonable.
After two years as a loyal customer, I expected accountability from the company. I understand that accidents happen, but how a company responds to those situations says everything about its values and commitment to its customers.
AVOID AT ALL COSTS. Unprofessional and overpriced. The fan wasn’t turning on for my pool heater. I agreed to their $165 for an audit. I was told after paying that someone would reach out to me to schedule a service. The next morning they showed up unannounced and scared the crap out of my wife while I had as at work. I never got to speak to the tech because of this but instead got a quote saying the capacitor was broke and they quoted me $250 to replace what is a $10 part. I’m 3 minutes from Ace hardware who had it in stock. They could have easily just replaced it day of and I would have paid extra but instead they sent me a ridiculous quote charging me $50 for a $10 part and $200 for labor on a part that took me 30 seconds to swap out. I get they want to make their money and turn it into a second service call but all that for a part that easy to swap out is very unethical in my mind
Since we contracted with Magnolia pools, our pool has never looked better; And we have lived in our home for 18 years. The service is very dependable and timely each week with email notifications when the service is completed.
Harrison is very professional and does a thorough job. He is also alert to possible issues to prevent future problems. We appreciate his support.
