From the magnificent view of the StJohns river to the heart warming welcoming staff and amazing volunteers the Winston YMCA is the place to get fit, have fun, and stay healthy. A wonderfully designed facility from the indoor pool to the massage chairs, well spaced locker rooms and large weight room this location is the best gym in riverside and downtown! A warm thank to Alexis for her smile and always kind greeting. You guys are amazing!
The YMCA will always hold a special place in my heart because I’ve been going here since I was a kid but something needs to be done about the hours! I have considered switching gym multiple times due to how early the gym closes. Every gym closes 10pm or later at this point. Other than that, this gym is perfect! Super nice staff and equipment!
★★★★★ A Fantastic Facility with a Welcoming Atmosphere
The Winston Family YMCA is truly a gem in Jacksonville. From the moment you walk in, you can tell this place is well cared for—the cleanliness is top-notch, and the staff goes above and beyond to make everyone feel welcome. Whether you’re here for a workout, a swim, or just to unwind, there’s something for everyone. The variety of amenities is impressive, from the spacious gym and group fitness classes to the pool and family-friendly programs.
While I absolutely love the experience, I do wish the hours were a bit more extended to accommodate different schedules. That being said, the positive energy, excellent facilities, and sense of community make this YMCA a great place to stay active and connected. Highly recommended!
Hoping this review will be seen by the management that was responsible for so said “renovation” of the second floor. You have done a terrible job. Invaluable piece of equipment for functional training and calisthenics was removed and replaced by the cookie cutter gym machines. There was a petition that a lot of members signed for this equipment NOT to be removed. Every person I talked to at the gym today said they used that equipment and have hard time structuring their workout with the new set up. Even the personal trainers who work at the gym said they were fighting for this piece of equipment to be kept! So my question is: if so many people needed the equipment and used it on daily bases, why weren’t our voices heard? Why was the whole floor space taken over by more machines? Was this whole renovation done for the members or was it some kind of money laundering scheme? Our family won’t be contributing to this gym any longer. If our voice is not heard we are better off taking our money somewhere, where our needs are respected.
Lots of fun activity many people that is why a lot of classes are held. The only downside is because of many people the equipment might not be the newest. They recently just had a new renovation so and added new features such as massage chairs
