Wish I could leave a NEGATIVE STAR:
Our company was hired by Phoenix Tree and Landscape LLC, managed by Lukas Omaly, on May 22, 2025, to provide street sweeping services following their landscape work at a residential neighborhood. Despite completing the job as agreed, we have not received payment.
Each time I’ve contacted Lukas, I’ve been directed to speak with Shane, who supposedly handles their finances. However, every attempt to reach Shane has gone to voicemail, and I have not received a return call.
After looking into other contractor reviews, it appears this is a recurring issue with this company. I would strongly recommend requiring payment upfront or keeping a card on file before performing any services for them.
Do not use this company! I got an estimate from Jimmy, who no longer works for the company, for tree removal and oleander trimming. We discussed the scope of work and he described how each step would be done. They removed my sissoo tree that had wrecked havoc on the plumbing to my spa and pool. Jimmy did the climbing himself and they did an adequate job of cleanup. Then the problems began. Sissoos are known to propagate from the roots that can stretch well over 100 feet from the trunk. Jimmy made four cuts in the Cambium and applied herbicide to poison the roots. On reviewing many expert opinions, these widely spaced cuts were totally totally inadequate. I could not get them back to put in the three-quarter inch holes that are recommended to be spaced every 3 to 4 inches so I drilled the holes myself. I asked them on multiple phone calls to bring me their recommended Herbicide, but this did not happen for weeks. They finally brought the poison and I treated the stump repeatedly through the holes that I had drilled over two weeks. It was very difficult to get them to return to do the stump grinding that was part of the contract. There were multiple scheduling problems and cancellations. When they finally arrived I was doing an irrigation project in the same large planter where the sissoo had been removed. One of the men took my trenching shovel out of my hand and used it to pull up Irrigation spaghetti tubing and lighting wires that were in the area. They did not repair these. Jimmy had said that the stump would be ground 4 to 6 inches below ground level, but an actuality it was only down about 2 inches. They did not remove the sawdust and wood chips, but just spread them around in the planter. It was the end of the day and they left in a hurry. The next morning when I went out to continue the irrigation project, my trenching shovel was gone. We called the office six times and each time they told us that they would get back to us, but they never did. I asked to have the owner give me a call, but that never happened either. We still don’t know if the roots are continuing to grow, but at least we haven’t had any new sprouts for the past two weeks.
Now for the Project with the oleanders that was occurring during the above. Jimmy had said that they would take all of the deadwood out of our 152 yards of oleanders and trim the tops and our side. They did not remove all the deadwood so I had them come back. They did an inadequate job again and I was unable to get any significant response by telephone. I spent much of two weeks with my chainsaw removing dead wood. My yard man agreed to carry the cuttings away in their 12 x 6‘ trailer. It took two loads that were tramped down and then tied down.
Meet with the owner, and hired them to take out 2 trees, also paid $300 ish extra to have the trees stump ground as my hoa requires us to have a tree in the front. I explained this to Shane the owner the day we met. Well everything was great, up until I see the worker simply cutting the tree a few inches below grade, I go ask him why, and he said he can’t do it. So they clean up, leave, I call the office and let them know, and she tells me the owner will get back to me, and in addition I’m also waiting for a replacement tree bid as we discussed initially but I needed to get a tree picked out, we do relay that and nothing happens, so I called back a week later, and she apologized and said I’ll have the bid that day and they’ll be by to stump grind and it will be handled by the owner who was on vacation hence the no follow up. This was in September. No call, no replacement tree bid and the job was never completed. Filing a claim with the ROC this week and with Amex as I have to hire someone else to take the stumps out and pay more now and plant a tree.
Nice sales pitch up front, but terrible execution
I used Phoenix Tree and Landscape to fix a drainage issue in my backyard and side yard and put in some turf and pavers around the house. Shane quoted me after seeing the yard and told me everything he was going to do. They started the next week and the whole crew was great and did great work. I will use them again if I need landscaping or earthwork done.
Still needs to work on how to have great customer service!
Great with sending text reminder of scheduled appt with 2 hour time window. However after two hours and a no show. I initiated communication with them. I understand a little behind but they said should be an hour then never called me but again I called two other times with them giving excuses for not being there to give a quote. Wasted my whole day. After asking them to let me know if they are still coming that day or the next day I had 7:00 available with no response. The next day, I contacted them and found out they weren’t available at 7:00 am so the next time they could come give me a quote was going to be the following week. Being a residential home Lucas gave me a number of another tree guy. Waste of time apparently they have so much work don’t bother with them. It was a total waste of time.
