I have hired Joel and his team for multiple projects over the past 10 years. I have 30 acres and have multiple garden sites, patios and trees. He has done beautiful work. He and his team made the most beautiful flagstone patio and stairs for my house in the desert. He mixed the colors I loved. It is a work of art. The rounded stairs are so beautiful. He expands on my ideas and makes them better. I have recommended him to all my neighbors and they have been happy with his work also. I highly recommend Armendariz Gardens

HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT and upset that we hired Joel to do our landscaping at our school. He has been MIA since “finishing” up putting artificial turf but left everything very bad. These are a few of the many pictures of how he finished the job! He left everything unleveled because he did not replace the bottom before putting in new turf so it is all lifted and not flat. He cut up a bunch of pieces and tried to piece them together. He left holes everywhere. We have exhausted our patience in trying to get him to come back and fix everything but he blocks our calls and doesn’t respond to any messages or emails. Very unprofessional. He was our most expensive quote. Once we paid him he completely vanished. I DO NOT RECOMMEND HIM AT ALL.

Joel is an amazing landscaper, he does amazing work. He’s super professional and is extremely nice. He left my backyard looking beautiful. He also installed some beautiful lights that just made my backyard look bright. I highly recommend giving him a call for any work that needs to be done.

HUGE disappointment and mess. Major oil damage was done to the front of our house and Joel completely dropped the ball.

    THE LANDSCAPING JOB:
We hired Joel to update our front and back yard with Xeriscaping at the beginning of June 2022. The initial process was smooth with a quick estimate and the work began the following week. I was happy about the pace, but I ignored red flags including a very, very high estimate for the work that needed to be done and no written plans. The work took a little over a week and it looks better than it did before (though not hard to accomplish). However, I was disappointed in some of the plants he chose (they don’t seem to be doing well), the amount of plants he planted were fewer than promised, the rocks were a different color than we talked about, and the few bolders he chose are not big enough for the area. Bottom line: It was clear that he cut corners to ensure an even bigger profit on an already overpriced job. That stated, I paid him on-time and in full. Even then, he tried (unsuccessfully) to get $600 more from us than we’d agreed to because he had to replace a valve for the drip system.

    THE DAMAGE TO OUR PROPERTY:
But the real issue is that the small loading tractor he used to remove and add rock leaked oil on our driveway and the paved road right in front of our house and our neighbor’s house. I’m talking A LOT of oil. I noticed it right when the work was done and I had already paid Joel in full. I was then assured by Joel that they would clean it up and make it right. After several days of not hearing from him and a complaint from my neighbor, I went outside and swept and used the blower to clean the areas (that his workers should have cleaned). The clean up only highlighted the oil damage. This began a routine of me texting Joel (he never initiated contact with me and only sometimes responded) asking him to do something. Weeks later he sent a worker to power wash even though I told him I knew the power wash would not work and he needed to have another, more aggressive plan for clean up. As I suspected, the power wash only highlighted the extensive oil damage. He later came by the house to look and stated, “I didn’t realize it was that bad” and then from that moment forward completely dropped the ball. I am now forced to hire another company to do the clean up and have my attorney contact him for reimbursement.

It is worth noting that all Joel had to do was take responsibility, formulate a plan for remedying the situation and share it with me, and then get the clean up done. Instead he chose to take our money and leave our home looking worse than before he was hired. I’m not sure how he sleeps at night.

Joel and his crew were very professional and prompt to meet our landscaping needs. Any questions or concerns were answered and attended to expeditiously. He is reputable and has done landscaping work for neighboring homes and they too were pleased with the results. I will also be using Joel to build our pergola in the near future.
