( see photo attached ) pictures tell a 1000 words … I shouldn’t have to even write anything after posting this photo…

But Today 04/18/25 …I had a shocking and bad experience at Orlando outdoor Sod outlet.. I’ll try to make this as brief as I can / I’m not one that takes time out to leave bad reviews but the owner was rude and not caring about her sales of poor sod quality.

On Monday morning 04/14/25 I placed an order for 3 pallets of St Augustine sod for pickup. Then before I get there my truck started to give me issues so I call Orlando outdoor and told the owner I’ll have to post pone the sod order, I had to take my truck to the shop, so I gave her permission to go ahead and sell my sod so it doesn’t go bad on her and I’ll reorder when I get my truck back.

Wednesday 04/16/25 she called me and ask me when am I gonna come for the grass. I told her I’m supposed to get my truck back Thursday afternoon so I’ll be there Friday morning, and ask can she place my order for then, she said ok.

Friday morning 04/18/25 she called me asking when and what time am I coming… I said I’m on my way, and I ask her to increase my order to 6 pallets for pickup. When I got there I walked around and saw about 20 pallets of not so healthy looking pallets of sod. So I went into the office and introduced myself and immediately she wanted me to pay… I said before I do that, can you come outside and show me which pallets are mine.

She led me to a section of dead sod and said those are yours. I replied “the grass is dead!!!” …she said yes it’s been here since Monday, ( I asked her so you held on to grass to sell since Monday / in 3 days sod is no good ). She replied if you don’t want to buy it I’ll sell it to someone else… (God as my witness … I’m not lying) I said I’m not paying $1050.00 for that dead pallets of grass….. that was a whooow moment to me… Orlando Outdoors does not take pride in selling fresh quality sod. That sod is a fire starter on the lawn when someone buys and put that down in their lawn…. ( see photo attached of her pallets for sale )

To say less…. I left the premises and bought fresh green grass else where. No one should have to subject themselves to purchase a problem, …

let me give everyone advice… once you pay big bucks and lay sod down at your house and it does not bounce back healthy it’s not a guarantee that you’ll get your money back because sod is a perishable item. “Buy fresh green sod when you buy sod. so that when you lay it the sod can have a decline threshold of 2 days on ground to recover from being stressed .”.

Like previous customer I purchased provista. Laid it approx 30 days ago sprinkler is a rachio automated system that has given water every day except days of a lot of rainfall. As you can see in pictures growth of sedge and weeds even after home was without sod for 90 days and treated for weeds and cared for correctly. Grass has no fungus in it. Drains well and all trees and shrubs are great in area. Purchased with them to help a minority business get ahead. However learned during call that I made to maria that all was my fault and even though professionally prepped and no fungus at all as well was laid within 1 hour of pick up. She said I should have told her in the first week of situation so I can return.
Wow, first I won’t restack to take back. So perhaps yes my fault there. Second you can’t tell in first week how well it is rooting it still feeds off it’s own nutrience at that point.
Also it is sand based and seems to have been cut vary thin with not alot or dirt on its root system.
I guess will go to one of the major growers to get sod now. They at least back the product. I have sodded many homes in Orlando. 54 years living here never a problem with sod this is not a reputable location lacks experience in customer service and knowledge and guarantee of product.
Look for sod that has muck and looks fresh and green. This one was a bit on dry side and hardly any dirt on bottom. That may be reason roots did not take.

I purchased two pallets of sod from Orlando Outdoors paid in advance to get delivered to my home. It came on time and unloaded placed where I asked. After landscaper finished I saw that majority of the sod was brown and definitely not fresh. I called them after 3 days and they said it was a fungus dead in 3 days ridiculous. They lied will do nothing about the inferior dead sod. WARNING WARNING DO NOT BUY SOD FROM ORLANDO OUTDOORS. I forgot to mention when I first called they said it was a fungus without seeing it. All in all a terrible frustrating experience and 900.00$ down the drain. Beware Photos after 2 days !!

I ordered 6 pallets of provista and the sod I received did not look health and a lot of the sod was broken between the pallets. I called to discuss the matter and find solutions, Jessica answered the phone and as usual she was rude but this time she topped it off by calling me dumb and hanging up the phone on me just when I asked her to stop speaking over me and listen, because she kept saying that I did not order provista meanwhile my receipts says otherwise and what I paid is what the provista price is, I called back to speak with a manager, the employees started bouncing me around and refused to connect me with a manager and finally saying that the manager is out of town, and they don’t know when they will come back, which is complete nonsense. Do yourself a favor and stay away from this scam.
