Such a magical place! They have a wonderful selection of plants for you to buy; but even if you’re not into plants I would consider going there and walk around the property; they have some really nice shops. They also have some very special food trucks on selected days, I was lucky to be there when the trucks were there and there was one that sold European bakery items and I was lucky to try a Pavlova (it was so delicious)

This is a fantastic Tallahassee garden center, and there’s a lot to take in. Let’s get right to it.

This visit was on February 1, 2026, when a strong cold front pushed through North Florida and reminded everyone that winter does still show up here. Temperatures were in the low 30s, and it felt especially surreal seeing icicles hanging from one of the fountains. Many of the plants were thoughtfully covered to protect them from Jack Frost; something longtime Tallahassee gardeners know is rare, but serious business when it happens.

The nursery has that unmistakable family-owned Tallahassee feel; unpretentious, welcoming, and run by people who actually know what grows well here. The associates are knowledgeable in their specific areas, and the zero sales pressure was refreshing. I had the space to wander, take notes, and think through what truly works in a local yard rather than being pushed into impulse buys. Plant inventory is well organized with clear signage, making it easy to navigate whether you’re planning a full landscape overhaul or just killing time on a Saturday.

Houseplant lovers will be especially happy here. They carry a large selection of sought-after tropical houseplants and in-bloom orchids; some are perfect for beginners, and others that feel like they require a PhD to keep alive. The greenhouse is a joy to browse, and their tropical offerings also shine for anyone interested in DIY terrariums.

The selection of native plants is equally impressive, ranging from ground covers to shrubs and full-sized trees. It’s clear this isn’t an afterthought: there’s real attention given to plants that actually thrive in the Tallahassee climate, making this a valuable resource for sustainable and locally appropriate gardening.

I also enjoyed exploring the three cottages filled with gardening accessories. There’s a charming mix of quirky, seasonal, and thoughtfully curated pieces that fit Tallahassee’s indoor-outdoor lifestyle. The variety of pots makes it easy to match not just the plant, but your home décor and even your mood.

A few local-flavor highlights: the giant wind chimes are a treat when the breeze moves through, producing deep, resonant tones that feel less like North Florida and more like the English countryside. And kids will absolutely be drawn to the tyrannosaurus sculpture. Just make sure they admire it from the ground, not its back.

All in all, this is one of those Tallahassee spots that rewards lingering, whether you’re a seasoned gardener, a new plant parent, or just looking for a peaceful place to wander on a chilly North Florida day.

Tallahassee Nurseries is quickly becoming a place dear to my heart, a pocket of whimsy and rejuvenation. Having lived in Tallahassee for three decades, and previously joking that I had a black thumb when it came to plants, I only recently started going regularly. Now I can see it becoming a beautiful mainstay in my life.

In the past few weeks, I’ve attended several of their events for the first time. Each one has been beautifully coordinated and well attended, and I can’t wait to go to more. I just went to the Artisans in the Gardens event yesterday, and it was stunning and idyllic, even with the overly warm weather. The quality of the artisans was genuinely inspiring, and they were all local. I’m so proud to see the talent in our community.

The grounds are absolutely enchanting, and the variation in plant types means there’s truly something for everyone. I’ve had the privilege of getting to know many of the staff, and they are all wonderful, kind, grounded people. I’m happy to say I seem to have turned my black thumb into something closer to a green thumb, and I can’t wait to come back and flex my newfound skills by bringing home more varieties of plants, or even just to enjoy the grounds, wandering through the gardens with the shop kitties and butterflies.

I absolutely love Tallahassee Nurseries! Every time I come here, it’s such a peaceful and beautiful experience. The plants are gorgeous and so well cared for, and the whole atmosphere just feels calm and welcoming. I especially love their art shows, it’s amazing to see all the beautiful local art and meet other artists in the community. As an artist myself, I’ve always felt supported and welcomed whenever I’ve showcased my own work here. The staff is always so kind and helpful too. You can really tell everyone works hard to make this place as special as it is! I can’t recommend them enough!!

My first visit there was incredible! The place itself is a work of art and it’s beautiful fountains and all the plants! So many beautiful plants in an astounding variety and very well taken care of. I wish I had longer to stay but my kids and I were killing time while waiting for my grandmother’s doctor appointment to be over. It was such a good idea and my kids and I had a blast. The prices of the plants were incredibly reasonable. I still managed to get 2 before I had to leave. I am definitely coming back for more! If you’re around it, it’s definitely a place worth checking out especially during the holidays! It’s a fun place for the kids and it’s open and easy to navigate.
